Understanding driver ratings

Our system is designed for the safety and enjoyment of everyone using Uber. Both riders and drivers can rate each other after a trip. * Riders can give a star rating from 1 to 5 and can highlight common issues through feedback options * 5 stars: the ride went without issues * 4 stars or less: riders are asked to suggest improvements * Riders are prompted to rate each trip before they can book another * Canceled trips can’t be rated by riders

How to check your current rating

  1. Select the menu icon (3 horizontal lines) in the top left corner
  2. Select your profile photo
  3. Your rating is displayed under your name

Understanding ratings and feedback

Rider feedback is anonymous, and ratings are private. We don’t share details about why a rider gave a rating for specific trips to maintain confidentiality. Riders can see their updated rating only after they rate you. This ensures honest feedback without bias, and fairness for both drivers and riders.

Your overall star rating

Your overall star rating reflects the average of the ratings you’ve received from riders. As a new driver, you’ll start with a perfect 5 stars, but your rating may fluctuate until you’ve collected 100 or more ratings. See below for how this is determined: * Ratings below 5 stars that cite issues not related to your performance don’t count against you * We auto-remove such ratings; no need to request removal individually * More rated trips mean individual ratings affect your overall score less

Why ratings matter

Ratings are crucial because they help ensure high-quality experiences for riders every time. If a rider rates below 5 stars, we ask for anonymous feedback to help you give you constructive feedback and ways to improve experiences for riders. Consistently low ratings may lead to deactivation after several warnings.
