Freedom to use the app of your choice
- The Driver app has built-in GPS navigation, but you also have the option to use third-party apps for navigation on Uber trips.
- Feel free to use the app you like best.
- We understand there are times when an alternative route may be better than the route suggested by the Uber app.
- It’s good practice to ask your rider about a preferred route to their destination.
To set your default navigation app:
- Tap your profile picture in the upper right corner
- Choose Account from the top menu
- Select App Settings
- Tap Navigation
- Select the app you want as your default
Using third-party navigation
- If you’ve selected a third-party app, tap the Navigate button during a trip to move from the Driver app to the navigation app you selected.
- The Driver app continues to record trip details to ensure your fare is accurate.
- To switch back to the Uber app during a trip, tap the banner at the top of your screen.
