Advanced menu functionality: Customization options

With Menu Maker, the menu editing tool found within your Restaurant Manager account, you can give customers more options through customizing your menu.

. . .

Here are some examples of the customizations available and how you could take advantage of them within Menu Maker:

EXAMPLE: Allow customers to choose 3 toppings if they choose a regular sized Poke Bowl, and 4 if they choose a large Poke Bowl.

1. Create a new menu item, "Poke Bowl"
2. Create a new modifier group for "Size" that has a "Regular" size option and a "Large" size option
3. Create a new modifier group, "Poke toppings" that has all the poke toppings available to the customer
4. When creating the "Poke toppings" modifier group, select the "See Advanced Settings" link
5. Open the "Adjust quantity based on another modifier group" option and select the "Size" modifier
6. Select the Large size and set the fields so that a customer must choose "Exactly" 4 modifiers
7. Select the Regular size and set the fields so that a customer must choose "Exactly" 3 modifiers

EXAMPLE: Charge more for toppings if a customer chooses a large size item and less if they choose a small size item.

1. Create a new menu item, "Pizza"
2. Create a new modifier group for "Size" that has a "Small" size option and a "Large" size option
3. Create a new modifier group, "Pizza toppings" that has all the pizza toppings available to the customer
4. When creating the "Pizza toppings" modifier options, select the "Change Price By Modifier" link
5. Select the "Adjust price based on another modifier group" option and select the "Size" modifier
6. When entering your modifier options, you will be able to set different modifier prices for toppings associated with a large pizza than for toppings associated with a small pizza

EXAMPLE: A customer chooses a combo meal and has a choice between a side salad or a side of french fries. If a customer chooses a side salad, show them a choice of salad dressing. If a customer chooses a side of fries, show them a choice of dipping sauces.

1. Create a new menu item, "Combo meal"
2. Create a new modifier group for "Combo meal side dish" with the modifier options of "French fries" and "Salad"
3. Create a new modifier group, "Salad dressings" that has all the salad dressing options available to the customer if they choose salad
4. Create a new modifier group, "Dipping sauces" that has all the dipping sauce options available to the customers if they choose french fries
5. Go back into your "Combo meal side dish" modifier group and scroll down to the Modifiers section
6. Select the three dots next to the price display of the "French fries" modifier option and select "Add modifier group". Choose "Dipping sauces" and select "Save."
7. Select the three dots next to the price display of the "Salad" modifier option and select "Add modifier group". Choose "Salad dressings" and select "Save."

Please note that you can offer up to two conditional customizations per item. In the example above, the customer's choice of side dish is considered their first customization. If that customer selects a side salad, you can give them a choice of dressing as their second customization.

EXAMPLE: Let customers choose how many of each type of bagel they want in their baker's dozen.

1. Create a new menu item, "Baker's Dozen Bagels"
2. Create a new modifier group, "Choice of bagel"
3. Set it so that customers are required to choose modifiers
4. Set it so that customers must choose exactly 12 modifiers
5. Set it so that customers can choose up to 12 of one modifier
6. Enter in your modifier options, for example: Plain bagel, Multigrain bagel, Onion bagel, etc.
7. Select "Save"
