Tip guarantee for couriers FAQ

How it works

• When a delivery trip includes a tip, you’ll see a “guarantee” badge on the trip request
• That means the total amount you see — including the tip - is the amount you’ll receive after the delivery
• If there’s a change in the tip amount post-delivery, Uber will cover the difference. In cases where the tip increases, as always, you will keep 100% of the tip.

Here’s when you will get this

Roll out for tip guarantee on delivery trips in the US started in November. On April 7, 2026 Tip Guarantee launched to all of the US (except Seattle) for Restaurant, Grocery/Retail, and non-Walmart Direct trips.

Instances where a tip guarantee may not apply Below are rare situations in which tips are not processed. In these cases, the tip guarantee may not apply:

• Basket changes: For some orders, customers tip a percentage based on order amount. Basket changes in these orders may increase or decrease tip amount.
• Order cancelled: When an order is cancelled, no tip is collected. For batched orders, if one delivery is canceled the earnings may be adjusted and the tip is not collected.
• Order reassigned: In rare cases, Uber may reassign orders to other couriers. When this happens, the tip will be paid to the couriers who complete the order.
• Suspicious activity detected: If our systems identify suspicious activity or suspected violations of our Community Guidelines or the terms of your agreements with Uber, the associated tip may be automatically rejected

In all of the scenarios above, you will still receive the base fare for completing the delivery.

Tips take approximately one hour to process after the order is marked completed. If you believe you did not receive your guaranteed tip amount, please contact support for assistance.

NOTE: Tip guarantee is only applicable on completed delivery trips placed through Uber. Deliveries placed by consumers through third-parties will not be included.
