I took a trip almost the same as the one I did in the past, but my earnings were very different. What is the logic behind this difference?
To define the price of a trip, the new earnings model considers, in addition to the estimated distance and duration of the trip, other factors such as the valuation of more common trips, distance from the driver to his passengers and the time.
Because of these variations, you may not get the same amount of earnings even on two similar trips.
This new model got me confused and I don’t know how it works, what do I get with this new Defined Price model?
One of the goals is to further improve your driving experience with Uber. With this new model, you will receive a lot of data about the trip, including your final earnings, even before accepting it. Now you have even more information at hand before starting the trip.
We conducted surveys after implementation and many driver-partners prefer the new offer card as it has more information that helps them in their day-to-day life and also helps them make informed decisions.
As we know that it is important for you to be always on the move, in this new earnings model there is also an incentive for passengers to make more trips.
Why is my receipt not as detailed as it used to be?
The new receipt is simpler, but still clearly shows how much your rider paid, the Uber service fee, your earnings, and possible extras like waiting time, tolls, or extras.
As the earning on each trip is presented before accepting it, the new receipt will be presented according to this amount. If there is a significant change in the route, the receipt will automatically show the recalculated amount, also stating that the route details were significantly different from the estimate and therefore the final price has been recalculated.
Were my earnings lower because the user had a promotion?
No need to worry because promotions do not impact your earnings. We would like to point out that the new model is not intended to reduce your earnings, and the operation of promotions has not changed, it continues to be absorbed by Uber and does not harm the earnings of driver-partner.
How do extra stops work in this new earnings model?
Trips with stops added before the start of the trip, will have the total earnings amount displayed at the time of the offer, following the new earnings model. However, trips with stops added by the user after you accepted the request or after the trip started, will have the total trip value updated to reflect the extra time and distance traveled.
