Q: What is the minimum pay for delivery couriers in New York City?
A: Couriers are guaranteed a minimum hourly pay rate for “trip time.” As of April 1, 2024, the rate is $21.44 per hour of trip time, plus additional earnings based on market factors. This is reviewed weekly. For a full breakdown, see our New York City Courier Minimum Earnings page.
Q: How do I earn Paid Sick Leave in New York City?
A: You earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours of active time, up to a maximum of 56 paid sick leave hours per year. This time is paid at a rate of $18.58 per hour (this is in addition to other paid time off you may receive under existing city law). Learn more on the New York City Paid Sick Leave page.
Q: What is the “Planner” for couriers? Do I have to use it?
A: Due to city regulations, there is a limit on how many couriers can be online at one time. The Planner is an in-app tool that allows you to reserve hour-long blocks to guarantee you can go online. While you can go online without a reservation if demand is high, reserving time is encouraged. Learn more on the New York City Courier Planner & Access Levels page.
Q: What happens if I earn less than the courier minimum?
A: Courier earnings are reviewed over a 7-day period. If your earnings from fares and incentives are less than the guaranteed minimum for your total trip time, you will receive an automatic “top-up” payment.
Q:Why don’t I see the tip amount upfront for deliveries anymore?
A: As a result of New York City regulations, tipping is now available to the customer after an order has been delivered. You will still keep 100% of your tips on top of your guaranteed minimum earnings.
Q: How can I appeal if my account is deactivated?
A: You can appeal deactivation decisions through the in-app Driver Review Center. See more on our NYS Driver Rights & Resources page, as this benefit applies statewide.
