You can cancel a lease at any time through the Uber App but may be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel after you're matched with your Lessor Partner.
Cancellation fees generate earnings to Lessor Partners for the time and effort they spend getting to your location.
Lease requests should only be made when you're ready to lease and near the indicated location to initiate the lease. This helps ensure smooth pickups for Users and Lessor Partners.
WAIVED CANCELLATION FEES
You won't be charged a cancellation fee if:
- Your Lessor Partner took much longer than expected to arrive.
- Uber detects that your Lessor Partner isn't making much progress at your indicated location to initiate the lease.
If you believe you were charged a cancellation fee in error, let us know in the "Review my cancellation fee" form. This might happen if your Lessor Partner canceled instead of ended the lease, or if they canceled because they were too far away from at the indicated location to initiate the lease.
