Issue with Staying Online: Android Device Troubleshooting

If your Uber Driver app closes or disconnects while you are using other apps, it could be because your phone is trying to save battery. Follow these steps to make sure the app stays active. If you still have trouble, check your phone maker’s website or search online for help with your specific model.

Note:

  • These steps are based in part on widely used Android community guidance about how different phone makers manage battery and background apps.
  • Operating system versions and settings menus may vary depending on your specific device and software version.

General troubleshooting steps for Android:

  • Disable battery optimization for the Uber Driver app: Navigate to your device’s battery settings and adjust the optimization for the app.
  • Enable background activity: Go to app management settings and ensure the Uber Driver app is permitted to run in the background.
  • Enable auto-launch: If the app is not reconnecting automatically, verify that the auto-launch permission is enabled for the Uber Driver app.
  • Lock the app: Open the recent apps screen and select the option to lock or pin the Uber Driver app to prevent the system from clearing it.
