If you are involved in a crash while driving with Uber, it is best to first make sure that all parties involved are safe. Contact the police and paramedics if necessary.

Next, you can report the crash to Uber. All rides on Uber are insured. Our claims support team will guide you through the claims process and crash reporting to the insurance carrier providing coverage in your state. There is no need to report to your personal insurance company.

- What do I do in the event of a crash?

We are committed to everyone's safety. If you are involved in a crash, you can follow these steps:
Check that all parties involved are safe.
Notify the police and paramedics if necessary.
Contact us in the Help section of the Driver app. Select Trip Issues and Adjustments, then select I was in a crash.
If you need to report a crash immediately, you can also speak directly with a trained agent by going to the Help section of your Driver app and tapping Call Support.

- What about commercially licensed and insured drivers?

Some people who drive with Uber are commercially licensed and insured for limousine, livery, black car, or private hire. Drivers seeking coverage for crashes on these trips should contact their commercial automobile insurance.

- What is covered if someone else is at fault for the accident?
Once you have accepted a passenger trip, Uber maintains uninsured or underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage on your behalf. If you are in a crash, this protection may cover you if someone else is at fault and they do not have enough insurance or in the case of a hit-and-run.


- What is my coverage if I am at fault for a crash while driving with Uber?
How much you are insured for depends on when your crash occurred. Here is a breakdown:
You are insured for liability to a third party if you are in a covered crash where you are at fault and you are online but have not received a trip request yet. Coverage varies by state but is at least $50,000 in injury liability per person, $100,000 in total liability per crash, and $25,000 in property damage liability per crash.
If you are in a crash where you are at fault and you have already accepted a ride request, you are insured for the following in case of a covered crash:
Your liability to a third party (at least $1 million).
Collision and comprehensive coverage. If your personal insurance already includes this coverage, the insurance that Uber maintains will take its place for damage to your vehicle (subject to a $2,500 deductible effective 3/1/2021). Approved Vehicle Marketplace drivers are responsible for a $1,000 deductible


- If Iam in an accident, will Uber is insurance cover a rental car for me?
No, it wont. As long as you maintain comprehensive and collision coverage on your personal auto insurance, the insurance that Uber maintains on behalf of drivers will kick in. If applicable, this insurance goes toward repairs and replacement for your car up to its actual cash value. There is a $2,500 deductible that you must pay before this coverage applies. Approved Vehicle Marketplace drivers are responsible for a $1,000 deductible.
