What is Uber Reserve?

Uber Reserve gives riders the option to book a trip in advance. Drivers can view Uber Reserve trip requests up to 7 days in advance and see the pickup location, dropoff location, and fare before confirming the trip request.

HOW DO I GET UBER RESERVE TRIPS?

Uber Reserve has launched in many cities and for most ride options. All drivers eligible for Uber Reserve products in cities where it has launched can access Reserve trips in the Driver app by selecting “Reservations.”

WHAT HAPPENS IF A RIDER CANCELS THE UBER RESERVE TRIP?

If a rider cancels less than an hour before the pickup time, drivers will receive a cancellation fee as long as they are online and making progress toward the pickup location.

  • Drivers will receive the full fare (minus the service fee) if a rider cancels the trip less than an hour before the pickup time for the Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV products.

  • Drivers will receive a flat cancellation fee (minus the service fee) if a rider cancels the trip less than an hour before the pickup time for the Uber X, Uber XL, and Uber Comfort products.

If you’re estimated to arrive 20 minutes late (calculated from the time you’re prompted to navigate to pickup), the trip can be offered to a driver who is closer to the pickup location. You will not receive a cancellation fee in this case.

WHEN DO I NEED TO GO ONLINE BEFORE AN UBER RESERVE TRIP?

For Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV, the ride will be re-matched with another driver if the driver who initially confirmed the trip is not online one hour before the trip start time.

For Uber X, Uber XL, and Uber Comfort, the ride will be re-matched with another driver if the driver who initially confirmed the trip is not online 40 minutes before the trip start time.

WHAT IS THE RESERVATION POLICY FOR DRIVERS?

For the Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV products:

  • If a cancellation is necessary, drivers should cancel at least one hour before the trip per the Reservations Policy that drivers have agreed to. This gives the rider time to get matched with a new driver.
  • Also, per the Reservations Policy, drivers agree that they will be online at least one hour before the Uber Reserve trip or lose the reservation.

For the Uber X, Uber XL, and Uber Comfort products:

  • If a cancellation is necessary, drivers should cancel at least 40 minutes before the trip per the Reservations Policy that drivers have agreed to. This gives the rider time to get matched with a new driver.
  • Also, per the Reservations Policy, drivers agree that they will be online at least 40 minutes before the Uber Reserve trip or lose the reservation.

A trip may be offered to the next driver if you’re estimated to arrive late to the pickup (calculated from the time you’re prompted to navigate to pickup). You will not receive a cancellation fee in this case.

CAN I STILL RECEIVE ON-DEMAND TRIP REQUESTS WHEN I’M WITHIN THE 40-MINUTE PERIOD (FOR X, XL, AND COMFORT) OR ONE-HOUR PERIOD (FOR BLACK AND PREMIER RIDE OPTIONS) BEFORE AN UBER RESERVE TRIP?

Yes! During that time, Uber’s technology continues to match drivers with trip requests that lead them in the direction of their upcoming Uber Reserve trip, so drivers can still choose to earn during this period.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE A CANCELLATION FEE AFTER WAITING FOR THE RIDER?

  • For Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, Uber Premier, and Uber Premier SUV, the fare paid by the rider includes fees that cover 15 minutes of wait time after the scheduled pickup time. The driver app will have a clock that counts up to 15 minutes after the scheduled pickup time, so drivers can keep track of this time. After 15 minutes, if the rider has not shown up and the driver cancels, drivers will receive the full fare (minus the service fee) for the trip.

  • For Uber X, Uber XL, and Comfort, the fare paid by the rider includes fees that cover 5 minutes of wait time after the scheduled pickup time.
