Instacart Partnership FAQ

General Details

When is Uber Eats launching in Instacart?

The “restaurants” tab to order Uber Eats will be available within the Instacart app in selected markets within the coming weeks. The experience will roll out nationally shortly after.

What does this mean for merchants?

Powering restaurant delivery in the Instacart app is another way for Uber Eats to help drive more orders to our restaurant partners.

This is a way for merchants to get access to millions of customers across the U.S., including families in suburban markets that use Instacart but do not currently use any online food delivery apps. Through this deal, merchants will be listed across more services and Uber Eats becomes an even more powerful way to drive eyeballs (and therefore orders) to their business.

How will a merchant know if the order comes from Uber or Instacart?

The order is powered by Uber Eats and delivered by the Uber Eats courier network. From a merchant perspective, all orders will flow through Uber systems and no different action or process is required on behalf of the merchant. The merchant can focus on their business and enjoy the additional orders.

Will pick-up be available through the Instacart app?

No, pick-up will not be available through the Instacart app. Pick-up will continue to be available to Eaters on Uber Eats.

Will a merchant’s offers appear in the Instacart app?

Yes. Instacart users will have a user-friendly Uber Eats interface that allows consumers to choose from a selection of nearby restaurants, browse menus, place orders, and track deliveries in real-time. Offers run in Uber Eats will also automatically appear in Instacart.

Can a merchant run ads in the Instacart app?

No. At this time sponsored listings are not available in the Instacart app.

Merchant Visibility

A merchant is BYOC only and can’t find themselves in the Instacart app. Where are they?

BYOC merchants have been excluded from the initial launch of Uber Eats in the Instacart app. These merchants will be added to the Instacart app in the coming weeks.

Is there a way for a merchant to be excluded from the Instacart app?

Being featured in the Instacart app is an opportunity for merchants to increase their visibility to new Eaters. If a merchant will churn from the Uber Eats platform if they continue to be included in the Instacart app, they can have themselves removed by contacting restaurants@uber.com and providing: Name Contact info Store name(s) Store address(es) Opt out requests will be processed within 5 business days.

Membership

What benefits are available to people ordering through Instacart?

A Instacart+ member who places an order over $35 through the Instacart app will receive free delivery. Uber One benefits will not be available through the Instacart app.

A merchant has an Uber One MPF, what rate will they be charged for orders from the Instacart app?

The merchant will pay their non Uber One MPF as Uber One benefits are not offered in the Instacart app. Even where the Eater has a Instacart+ membership the merchant will not pay an additional MPF.

Merchants will continue to pay their Uber One MPF for orders placed by Uber One members through the Uber Eats app.
