Why account verification is required

To help keep rides stress-free and secure, Uber may ask you to confirm your identity when you sign up or update your payment method.

Ways to verify your account

• Connect your verified Facebook account
• Add a verified digital payment method (such as PayPal or another payment method)

If you sign up using a gift card

You’ll need to verify your account by either: - Adding a digital payment method - Signing into your verified Facebook account through the Uber app

How to verify with Facebook

1. Select Use Facebook in the Uber app
2. Log into your Facebook account
3. Select “Public Profile (required)” or “Friend List”
4. Select “Continue” to finish verification

If you’re an existing user with only a gift card

You’ll need to verify your account by: - Adding a digital payment method, or - Signing into your verified Facebook account through the Uber app

If you have used a digital payment method before

No further verification is needed if you have previously taken trips using a digital payment method.

If you don’t have a Facebook account

You can either create a Facebook account or add a digital payment method to verify your Uber account.
