New York City regulations set a minimum earnings guarntee pay rate for delivery couriers for time spent on trips.

Minimum Earnings Guarantee Rate

As of April 1, 2025, the minimum earnings standard consists of an hourly rate of $21.44 per hour of trip time, plus additional earnings calculated based on market-wide factors. This rate is subject to change based on city regulations.

What is “Trip Time”?

Trip time is the time from when you accept a delivery offer until you complete the delivery or the trip is canceled. Time spent online waiting for an offer is not considered trip time. For batched trips (multiple orders at once), all time spent from accepting the first order to completing the last one counts as continuous trip time.

How Earnings Are Calculated

Your earnings are reviewed over a 7-day period that starts on Monday.

1. We calculate your total trip time for all deliveries that start or end in the 5 boroughs of New York City.
2. We determine your minimum earnings guarantee based on your trip time and the minimum hourly rate.
3. We compare this guaranteed amount to your actual earnings from trip fares and on-trip incentives for the same period.

If your actual earnings are less than the guaranteed amount, you will receive a “top-up” payment.

• Individual top-ups are paid by the end of the day on Wednesday.
• You may also be eligible for an additional aggregated payment on Friday based on total market active hours.

What Counts Towards Your Earnings?

When calculating if you have met the minimum, the following are included:

• Your delivery fares.
• On-trip incentives and guarantees.

The following are NOT included in the minimum earnings calculation:

• Tips from customers.
• Offline promotions like referral bonuses.
• Top-up payments may be considered taxable income.
