PORT CANAVERAL PICKUPS To improve the port request experience, we have implemented first-in, first-out (FIFO) queueing at the port. This is great news for drivers using the Uber app since it ensures you will be receiving requests on a first come, first serve basis.
HOW DOES FIFO WORK? Once you enter the FIFO zoning boundaries (highlighted in blue on the map linked below), you will automatically be placed into a virtual queue. When a rider requests a trip from Port Canaveral, the request will go to the vehicle within that area that has been waiting the longest, rather than the vehicle that is closest to the terminal. If you’re the 2nd driver to enter the area, you’ll be the 2nd to receive a trip request. If you’re the 3rd to enter the area, you’ll be the 3rd to receive a trip request.
WHERE SHOULD I WAIT? You can wait anywhere within the FIFO zoning boundaries. It doesn’t matter how close or far you are to the requester, as long as you stay within the FIFO boundaries.
IMPORTANT: You will lose your place in line if you cancel a trip on a rider, go offline, shut down your phone, switch vehicles, or leave the FIFO zoning area. You will NOT lose your place in line if a rider cancels or if you drive around within FIFO boundaries.
