Tax Documents for Uber Drivers

Tax documents for Uber drivers

As an Uber driver, you may receive the following documents for tax purposes:

  • 1099-K: For drivers who meet certain earning thresholds.
  • 1099-NEC: If you’ve received non-employee compensation, such as bonuses or referrals.
  • 1099-MISC: For other types of payments.

These documents are available for download on both your Driver Dashboard and Driver app by January 31, 2026.

Can I opt-in to receive 1099 Tax Forms?

Yes. If your earnings are below the IRS reporting threshold ($20,000 and 200 transactions for 2025), you can still choose to receive 1099 tax forms from Uber.

To do this, update your W-9 form in the Uber Driver app or the web driver portal. This lets Uber issue 1099 forms (such as the 1099-K and 1099-NEC, if applicable) even if you don’t meet the minimum earnings requirement.

Opting in may help you have the documents needed to report your income or claim certain deductions, such as the federal no tax on tips benefit starting in 2025.

Accessing your Uber tax documents

  • Digital Copy: Access your tax documents on the Driver Dashboard or the Driver app.
  • Physical Copy: If you’ve chosen to receive a physical copy, expect it by mail after February 1, 2026.

Understanding your Uber Tax Summary for Non-1099 Qualifiers

  • If you don’t qualify for a 1099, you’ll still receive a Tax Summary on your Driver Dashboard and Driver app.
  • The Tax Summary provides annual earnings and potential deductible expenses to help maximize your tax savings.

Tax savings with deductible business expenses

Deductible business-related expenses can help you save on your taxes but vary depending on the structure of your business.
