What is Uber Medics?

Uber Medics is a new trip type that is being offered to healthcare professionals who are using a specific code when requesting rides. If medical professionals do not have a promo code, they can continue to request other trip types, including Uber X.

What does this mean for me as a driver?

Uber Medics trips are just another trip type available in the app, like UberX or UberXL. You are not obligated to accept any trip, regardless of trip type. If you feel unsafe or do not wish to complete a Uber Medics trip for any reason, please feel free to not accept the ride or to cancel.

You can also opt out of Uber Medics at any time using the trip type filter in the driver preferences tab. As a reminder, it is against the Community Guidelines to discriminate against any rider due to race or national origin.

Are my earnings different on Uber Medics?

On Uber Medics trips, you will earn the typical rate for UberX in your area. Uber Medics is a trip option shown to drivers to alert them that the person requesting the ride may be a healthcare professional who is using a specific code when requesting rides.

Where is Uber Medics available?

Currently, Uber Medics is available in New York City, New Jersey, and Boston. If Uber Medics becomes available in additional parts of the US, you will be able to see the trip type option in the app. Feel free to keep an eye on the driver preferences menu in the app for updates.
