Grocery and OTC Delivery Process

Who are the couriers for delivery

Delivery on Uber Health uses couriers who have signed up to be couriers on Uber Eats. Before anyone can drive with Uber, they must undergo a multi-step safety screen and a background check.

How does a coordinator select items

Coordinators can browse recommended collections of healthy foods, search for specific items or stores, or select from available stores.

They can add individual items to a cart. Each cart can only contain items from one store, but coordinators can create multiple carts for a recipient. For eligible items, see Grocery and OTC Available Items and Merchants.

Do recipients need to be home to be notified of the delivery

When the order is placed, recipients will receive a text with a link to track the order on a browser (without the need to have the Uber or Uber Eats app installed). Some over-the-counter (OTC) orders will require recipients to be at home to meet the driver at the door to show ID.

Delivery options:

  • Leave at door: Courier will leave the items at the front door
  • Meet outside: Recipient should meet the courier at the curb
  • Meet at door: Recipient should meet the courier at their front door

If “Leave at door” is selected, the recipient does not need to be home, but we encourage food safety recommendations at all times. Groceries are not guaranteed fresh or safe to eat if left outside for extended periods.

What happens if there’s a problem with the delivery

If there’s a problem with the delivery, the “Attention Needed” section of the Uber Health dashboard alerts the coordinator that action is needed. If an item is unavailable during shopping, we’ll automatically substitute it with the best match. Coordinators can choose to have items refunded instead of replaced.

Coordinators can contact the courier during shopping and delivery. Recipients also receive a text with an option to contact the courier with a masked phone number. Coordinators can always contact Uber Health support.

When do deliveries take place

Grocery and OTC delivery can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance, with delivery windows in 30-minute increments. It’s available 24/7 but depends on individual store hours and courier availability for orders.
