Prepaid Pass allows you to purchase a set number of rides (e.g., 5, 10, 15, or 20 trips) for a specific route and ride type (UberX only for now, more vehicles to be added in the near future) at a locked-in price per trip. This means you pay upfront and don’t have to worry about price surges for those rides within your selected bundle.
NOTE: You’ll need the latest version of the app in order to use Prepaid Pass.
Prepaid Pass is designed for anyone who takes repeat trips, especially commuters who are looking for more price stability and predictability. It’s also being developed with features to benefit Uber for Teens and Uber for Family users.
The validity period for your pass will be specified at the time of purchase. We are currently testing different validity windows (e.g., 4 or 8 weeks).
Yes, you can have multiple Prepaid Passes for different routes as long as they are for the same product type (e.g., all UberX passes). If you have multiple active passes for an overlapping route and product, the pass expiring soonest will be used first.
You can have up to 10 distinct (unique pickup/dropoff) active passes at a time.
Existing Uber One members can still earn Uber One credits on their Prepaid Pass rides! The exact percentage will be displayed at checkout. We are also exploring future benefits for Uber One members, such as longer expiration windows or better pricing.
Currently, you can use any digital payment method supported by Uber, including Uber Cash or Uber One credits, to purchase your pass. We plan to introduce cash payments in the future.
If you cancel a trip, your Prepaid Pass trip token will not be used. However, standard cancellation fees will still apply according to existing policies in your market.
If you make changes to your trip (like adding a stop or changing the pickup/drop-off location outside the pass’s defined route), your Prepaid Pass will generally not apply, and you will be charged the real-time rate for that ride. We will warn you in the future if a change will make your pass ineligible.
No, driver earnings are not affected by Prepaid Pass. Drivers will earn their standard fare for each trip, with any difference between your locked-in price and the real-time fare being handled by Uber.
You’ll see a clear badge on the product selector when a Prepaid Pass is active for a specific ride. Your trip receipt will show “$0 - You redeemed a prepaid ride” for trips where the pass was applied. You’ll also be able to manage and view all your active and expired passes within the app.
