Price Lock Pass (a “Pass”) is an auto-renewing subscription that gives you the convenience of securing a maximum price for a route and one-hour time frame that you choose for the month. You can sign-up for multiple Passes if you want to secure pricing for different routes or even the same route at different times of day.
By subscribing for just $2.99 per month per Pass, you can lock in a maximum price for your chosen route and one-hour time frame each day (“Locked Price.”). For 30 days, your Locked Price applies to your selected route, provided you order the ride within the specific hour you chose. When you go to request a ride, if the real-time price is lower than the Locked Price, you will pay the lower price. Each month, each Pass will renew at $2.99, however, based on market conditions, your Locked Price may adjust. Uber will provide you with your updated Locked Price for each Pass seven (7) days before it renews, so you can cancel your subscription and avoid the $2.99 monthly charge if you prefer. For example, in one month your Locked Price might be $15.49, and in the next month it could be $16.49 (excluding the $2.99 subscription fee). You’re free to cancel a Pass at any time to avoid future monthly charges. If you want to change the route or time for a future month, you’ll need to cancel that Pass and sign up for a new one. If you cancel your Pass before the end of the 30 days, you will continue to receive your Locked Price until the 30 days have concluded. After that, your Pass will not renew and you will pay the market rate for rides.
Each month you can save a maximum of $50 per Pass, not including the $2.99 price of the subscription. Savings are calculated by comparing the real-time price when you request a ride to the maximum price you locked for the month. Using your benefits impact just the price, and will impact the time it takes for a ride request to be accepted by a driver. If the real-time price for the ride is lower than your locked price, your benefit isn’t used and no cost is added towards the $50 limit. After reaching $50 of savings in a month, any subsequent rides will be charged at the real-time price. Until you cancel, your Pass will automatically renew each month and your $50 savings limit resets.
This service is currently available exclusively in a few Uber markets across the United States. We are excited to slowly roll it out to all Uber markets in the United States.
To oversee your current Passes or to add new ones, simply navigate to the Price Lock section in the app menu. Here you can view details of existing Passes, check their statuses, and manage auto-renewal preferences. To purchase an additional Pass, select Add a Price Lock Pass and follow the steps to set it up.
Once a Pass is purchased, it cannot be modified. If you want to change the route or time, you’ll need to cancel the Pass and then purchase a new one with the updated details. To cancel, please navigate to “Ride Passes” under the Account section of the app, choose the Pass you would like to cancel and simply click “Cancel Pass” and follow the prompts.
Follow these steps to set up your Price Lock Pass using the app: 1. Navigate to the Ride Passes or Commute Hub option in the Account Hub section of the App 2. Enter and confirm your desired pickup and dropoff points 3. Choose a one-hour daily window 4. Review the product benefits and terms. Note, here you will have the chance to purchase Price Lock Pass or other types of non-renewing products to save on this route and time. 5. Complete your payment for your auto-renewing subscription
Once the $2.99 subscription fee is processed, your Pass is active and your Pass price will appear for ride requests for the locked route and time.
