Currently Uber in Japan, offers upfront price only for the following products: Uber Taxi (UFP).
An upfront price is the price quoted and displayed before you book a ride (instead of a price range). Upfront prices are calculated using the expected time, distance of the trip and local traffic and tolls, as well as how many riders and nearby drivers are using Uber at that moment.
*However, you may be charged a different amount than your upfront price for the following reasons.
CHANGE IN DESTINATION OR PICKUP POINT
If you change your pickup point or destination after you request the trip, your price may be charged based on the time and distance of the actual trip.
ADD A STOP
If you add stop(s) after request your trip, your price will be recalculated based on actual time of the trip/distance then charged. Further, when you set additional destinations, please do so from your app.
CHANGE IN ROUTE
If your driver does not follow the estimated route and takes a detour, your price may change to account for the extra distance driven.
*If you believe this price change happened unfairly, please let us know by going to Uber App Help; "I would like a refund" > "My driver took a poor route" and then select the appropriate reason.
HEAVY TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC OBSTACLES and WAIT TIME CHARGES
There is no additional charge if your trip takes longer than expected due to a traffic jam or a natural disaster. Besides, there is no wait time charge when your driver waits at your pickup location.
EXPRESSWAY
If you take an expressway, you will be charged for tolls separately.
An upfront price including a toll will be shown in your app when requesting a ride.
Please note that the actual fare including tolls will vary depending on the toll station you actually passed.
A toll will be shown in the breakdown of your receipt.
