How to purchase and use Uber gift cards

Gift card overview

You can use Uber gift cards for rides and food. You can purchase cards at physical stores and online and register to your account to use. Please be aware of the following when purchasing and using them.

• Available only in the country where it has bought
• Valid for 3 years from the date you purchase
• Need to register payment options except for gift card and cash to use gift cards

Purchasing gift cards

There are card-type gift cards and online gift cards available for purchase at physical stores or online.

You can purchase them at the stores listed below and choose the value among 3,000, 5,000, or 10,000 yen. There are also variable cards that allow you to set the amount in 1 yen increments from 1,500 yen to 50,000 yen.

Register a gift card to your account

You need to register a gift card to your account to use it. The gift card’s amount will be credited to your account as Uber Cash and will be automatically applied as your payment method when you select Uber Cash.For more detailed information about Uber cash, please see “How does Uber Cash work?”

1. Tap “Account” at the bottom of screen
2. Tap ”Payment methods”。
3. Tap “add a payment method” to show a list and choose “Gift card” from the list
4. Enter PIN code of the gift card without spaces

Unable to use a gift card

Here are some common reasons why you may be unable to register or use a gift card.

Cases you can’t register

Expired: Gift cards will expire if they’re not added to your account or used within 3 years.

Wrong PIN number: Please make sure that the entered PIN number is correct. Please note that gift cards have their PIN and serial numbers.

The amount limit has been reached: Once you register a gift card, the amount will be credited to your account as Uber Cash. The amount limit to register is 100,000 yen for one time and 200,000 yen in total for multiple times in 30 days. Please use the Uber Cash you have already registered first.

Purchased in other countries: Gift cards can only be used in the country/currency they are purchased in.

Not proper account: Only personal accounts are applicable. Family or business accounts are not.

Cases you can’t use it when placing an order

If you don’t register a required payment method: In some locations, the cost of the order or the estimated cost of the ride request will be charged once to your payment method. For the temporary charge, you need a payment method to be registered other than gift cards and cash, such as a credit card. Once the order is delivered or the ride is completed, the temporal charge will be cancelled and the fee will be charged to Uber Cash.

Other notes

• Once a gift card is added to an Uber account, it can’t be transferred.
• No refunds, returns, or exchanges will be made for lost, stolen, or accidentally sent to the wrong person.
