Non-Engaged Time is time that is excluded from your Engaged Time when calculating your Earnings Guarantee.
Non-Engaged Time only applies in limited circumstances where delivery activity indicates delays or actions unrelated to completing a delivery. If this type of activity is identified, Uber will notify you before the time is treated as Non-Engaged Time.
Time may be treated as Non-Engaged Time where delays are identified that are unrelated to completing a delivery.
Delays outside your control, such as waiting at a merchant because an order isn’t ready, won’t be treated as Non-Engaged Time.
Some examples of activity that may be treated as Non-Engaged Time include:
Note: Repeated activity like this goes against Uber’s Community Guidelines and may also result in further action on your account, including loss of access to the Driver app. This is separate from the Earnings Guarantee process described above.
Non-Engaged Time does not count towards your total Engaged Time for an Earnings Period. This means it is not included when calculating your guaranteed minimum under the Earnings Guarantee.
When Non-Engaged Time is recorded, Engaged Time is adjusted to exclude the additional trip time related to the identified delay. The rest of the eligible delivery time will still count towards Engaged Time.
You will still receive any earnings you are eligible for on the delivery. Non-Engaged Time only affects how your Engaged Time is calculated for the Earnings Guarantee.
If we identify delivery delays that may result in Non-Engaged Time, we’ll notify you via email and in-app message before any time is treated as Non-Engaged Time. The notification will explain the delays we identified and how it may affect your Engaged Time.
If repeated similar delays are identified within 6 months of a notification, time associated with those delays may be treated as Non-Engaged Time. If this happens, we’ll notify you.
If Non-Engaged Time is recorded during an Earnings Period, you can view the total amount recorded in the Earnings Guarantee section of the Uber Driver app once your Earnings Guarantee information is available.
