TO OPEN THE UBER APP
Select Uber from your phone's Apps screen by swiping or using Explore by Touch. Once you've selected the app, double tap to open it. You can also use Google Voice Search to start the app by saying "Open Uber."
SETTING YOUR DESTINATION
On the home screen, double tap on the "Where to?" button. This will activate destination search which allows you to search or select from a list of suggested destinations. Uber may also suggest "shortcuts" which appear lower on the home screen. Double tap on any of these to select as your destination, then proceed to the confirmation screen.
SETTING YOUR PICKUP LOCATION
Pickup location will be set automatically using GPS, but if you wish to change it please follow these instructions:
1. On the home screen, double tap the "Where to?" button.
2. Before choosing your destination, swipe left to highlight the "Pickup location" field and double tap to edit.
Note: The pickup and destination fields are next to one another. While typing you may have to swipe again to get to the search result list.
3. The app will automatically switch you back over to destination entry mode after you enter your pickup location.
REQUEST A RIDE
Once you've entered your pickup location:
1. Check that the pickup details and the payment method are correct. You can double tap on the payment method if you wish to change it.
2. Double tap the "Request" button to request your ride. Before you request, check which vehicle type you have selected. If you would like to change your vehicle type, use the instructions below.
SELECTING A VEHICLE
From the request screen, swipe to a vehicle type such as UberX and double tap to select it. Double tap again to display fare information, maximum number of passengers, and the ETA at the bottom of the screen. You can do a two finger swipe left and right to choose from other available products like UberPOOL, UberXL etc. depending on which city you are in.
Once your ride is on the way, you can text or call the driver through the Trip Options menu. Even though you have entered a pickup address, it is helpful to text the driver details to help him or her find you. You can find out the current ETA of the driver from Android's notification area. Swipe right then down with Talkback to open the Notification Shade.
You will receive a push notification that your driver has arrived. With TalkBack enabled, this notification will be read aloud.
TRIP DETAILS CARD
After your driver is assigned, swipe left or right to hear your driver's name, rating, and vehicle information. Double tap on the vehicle information to learn more details.
While waiting for your driver
CANCELING YOUR RIDE/ CONTACTING YOUR DRIVER
After pressing the request button, the app will transition into a requesting state. Swipe right to highlight the cancel button. Once you've been matched with a driver, a "contact" button will be added alongside "Cancel."
WAITING FOR YOUR RIDE
You can highlight the ETA element to hear how far away your driver is. You can also highlight the trip card to hear the driver's name, car model, and license plate number.
CHANGE YOUR DESTINATION
You can change your destination before the driver has arrived or while on trip. To change your destination, swipe right until you reach a button with your current destination. Double tap it to edit your destination.
You can share the status of your trip with a friend while waiting for your driver or while on trip. Swipe right until you've highlighted the "Share Status" button. Select the contacts you want to share status with, and Uber will send a text message to a friend with a link to track your trip.
SPLIT A FARE
Tap the "Split Fare" button. Your contacts list will populate, and you can use Google Voice Search dictation or manually type in a friend"s name to split a fare.
RATE YOUR DRIVER / CONTACT SUPPORT
After completing a trip, a rating card will appear at the bottom of the home screen. Selecting any number of stars will present a screen where you can choose from a number of options to characterize your review.
If you have accessibility related questions or feedback, you can submit this in the "Help" section in the Menu bar. All other Trip related issues can be reported by selecting the relevant trip from the "Your Trips" screen under "Menu." From the resulting screen, you can choose from a variety of options in order to report an issue.
The Menu can be accessed by tapping on the top left of the screen. Options available (from top to bottom): Payment, Your trips, Free Rides, Help, and Settings.
-Payment: Allows you to change or add a payment method.
-Your trips: Allows you to view past trips in order to get help or view receipts. It also allows you to view upcoming scheduled trips.
-Free rides: Allows you to view your invite code and send invites to your friends.
-Help: Provides a variety of support options including the ability to report accessibility issues.
-Settings: Allows you to update your favorite locations which will be available for easy clicking on the home screen so you don't always have to enter your destination manually.
