Understanding ratings
The Uber experience should be comfortable, safe, and enjoyable for everyone involved. Driver-partners are required to provide a rating for each trip. Similarly, riders have the opportunity to leave a rating and comments about their trip experiences.
Select RATINGS from your app menu to review your current rating and rider comments about trips with you. Comments are always anonymous.
RIDER RATINGS
At the end of each trip, the rider can rate the trip experience from 1 to 5 stars.
We encourage riders to provide ratings that reflect their overall trip experience. Riders may comment on anything, from how well they feel you navigated the route to the cleanliness of your car and their ability to communicate with you. A 5 Star rating is the highest rating riders or drivers can give each other.
OVERALL RATING
Your overall rating is an average of individual ratings provided by riders from your 500 or fewer most recent trips.
New driver-partners start with a perfect rating of 5. Your rating may often fluctuate until you’ve completed 50-100 rated trips. This is because your account has fewer rated trips available to average together. As your number of rated trips grows, changes in your rating will be smaller.
Canceled trips and unaccepted ride requests do not affect your overall rating.
Your overall rating average can only include trips with a rider who left a star rating. If a rider does not leave a rating, that trip will not count in your overall rating. Riders can leave a rating anytime before they request a new trip. This means you may see your rating change on a day when you do not complete any trips.

Rider ratings help us improve the Uber experience for everyone. To ensure that riders receive a high-quality trip each time they request one, driver-partner accounts with consistently low ratings may be deactivated.
We find that riders who consistently rate trips with 5 Stars request more rides and refer friends and family to try Uber. This leads to more trip requests and earning opportunities for driver-partners like you.
