UberX Share is a new product option that allows passengers to split the trip if we can find them a companion in the same direction. When you take travel orders from UberX Share, the app offers you the optimal route to pick up all passengers along the way.
UberX Share passengers often pay less than for a trip with UberX, but the total fare for drivers is usually the same, or exceeds the total cost of two similar trips with UberX.
Each rider that you pick up on a UberX Share trip will pay you an upfront fare and each upfront fare will have its own service fee that you pay to Uber. If the trip is matched, the rider is charged a lower upfront fare. The service fee varies as more riders (i.e. more upfront fares) are added to your trip, so your earnings will be at least the same as a comparable UberX trip of similar time and distance.
You will also be able to see the applicable Uber service fee in your waybill, found in the Trip Planner section of your Driver app.
The passenger cannot change the pickup address and/or destination after requesting a trip with UberX Share and can only request a trip with UberX Share for 1 person. Your vehicle can accommodate a maximum of 3 passengers at any time with UberX Share. If your vehicle already has 3 passengers, your app will take care to exclude the possibility for other passengers to join this trip until you arrive at the destination of at least one of the passengers.
To make the travel experience with UberX Share enjoyable for all users, please read the rules below:
- Cancellation of the trip with UberX Share is free for the passenger in the first 2 minutes after accepting the trip. If the passenger cancels the trip after 2 minutes, you will receive a cancellation fee.
- According to the rules of travel with UberX Share, the passenger will be informed about your arrival at the pickup address and the waiting time of at least 2 minutes. After 2 minutes of waiting, you can cancel the trip, while receiving a cancellation fee. If you cancel the trip without waiting for at least 2 minutes, the cancellation fee will not be charged.
