What documents do I need to rent a car?

You’ll need to provide the renter’s name to complete your booking. The name must be between 2-15 characters and can include Latin characters, hyphens, apostrophes, and spaces. Without a name, we can’t process your reservation.

What’s the minimum age to rent a car?

The minimum age to rent a car varies by location and rental company. In most cases, you must be at least 21 years old. Some rental companies may have a minimum age requirement of 25. Check the specific age requirements when making your reservation.

Why do I need to provide a security deposit when renting a car?

The security deposit is a standard practice in the car rental industry to protect both the rental company and the renter. It serves as a form of insurance in case of any unforeseen incidents during the rental period, such as damage to the vehicle or violations of rental terms. Yes, one-way rentals are often available. You can choose to pick up the car at one location and return it to a different location within the same rental company’s network. Additional fees may apply, and availability may vary by location.

What should I bring when picking up the car?

Make sure to bring your driver’s license, a credit card in your name, and a photo ID. Please check the terms and conditions section in your booking to see if there are any other documents you need to bring. If others are renting the car with you, they also need to be present with their licenses, credit cards, and photo IDs. If you’re renting in a different country from where your license was issued or your license has non-Latin characters, you’ll also need to bring an International Driving Permit (IDP).

What is the process for extending my rental period if I need the car for longer than initially planned?

If you need to extend your rental period, contact the rental company’s customer support or visit their nearest rental location as early as possible. Extensions are subject to availability, and additional charges will apply for the extra days. It’s best to request an extension before the original return time to avoid late fees.

Can I request specific features or types of vehicles, such as child seats or a specific car model?

What should I do if my document and/or selfie was rejected for a car rental?

To pass the verification requirements, you’ll need to take a picture of a physical driver’s license as well as take a selfie. Pictures of a digital copy of a driver’s license or selfie won’t be accepted.

If your document was rejected, please try submitting again, ensuring the photo of the document meets the following requirements:

  • Government issued US Driver’s License - outside US IDs, Passports and State IDs are not accepted
  • Good lighting
  • Not blurry
  • Clearly allows us to see:
    • Your name
    • Date of birth
    • ID number
    • And expiration date
  • No alterations, photos of a photo, or photoshopped images

If your selfie was rejected, please try submitting again ensuring your photo meets the following requirements:

  • No hats or sunglasses (eyeglasses and religious garments are allowed)
  • Full face and top of shoulders
  • Good lighting
  • Not blurry
  • Only one person in the photo
  • Face is centered in the frame and directly facing the camera
  • No filters, photos of a photo, or photoshopped images
