What is Uber Family Profile?

Uber Family Profile provides a convenient and secure way to share payment methods with your family, track order / trip status, and receive receipts for every order / trip.

You can choose who you want to invite and delete or invite more members at any time. In addition, you can add, delete, update, or designate a specific payment method at any time. You don’t need to share credit card information with members.

Once you create a family profile and invite people you trust to join, the users (the “Members”) can pay for orders / trips using the payment method specified by you (the “Organizer”). When any member places an order, people in the group can receive order notifications, receipts, and track order / trip status through the app.

Please note: Uber One benefits are exclusive to the purchaser and can’t be shared with family members.

Managing Uber Family profiles

Please note that only the Organizer can add/ remove members, edit payment method/ email address, and delete profile.

Set up a Family profile

  1. Select the Account tab, in the bottom right corner of the Uber app
  2. In the Family section, choose Set up your family
  3. Click “Set up your family”

Only one Family profile can be created at a time and family members can’t be restricted to spending limits.

Invite a member

  1. Select your profile icon in the top corner of the app
  2. Click “Family” to enter the Family Profile home page
  3. In the “Members” section, click “Add new member”
  4. Click “Invate family” and select people from your contact list to send them an invite to join your profile
  5. After confirming the member’s profile, select “Send Invite”

All users of Family Profile must follow Uber Eats User Terms and Conditions so users still need to be 18 years of age to sign up and place orders with Uber Eats.

Remove a member

  1. Select your profile icon in the top corner of the Uber app
  2. Click “Family” to enter the Family Profile home page
  3. Select the member you wish to remove
  4. Click “Remove Member”

Before verifying a member was removed from the Family profile, make sure:

  1. You have updated to the latest version of the app.
  2. Quit the app and then reopen to see if the member has been removed.

Change payment method

  1. Select the Account tab, in the bottom right corner of the Uber app
  2. Click “Family” to enter the Family Profile home page
  3. Under Preferences on the Family screen, you can edit your payment method or email address

Only credit cards can be used as a payment preference for your Family profile.

Change email for trip receipts

To change the email address where receipts are sent for your Family Profile:

  1. Select the Account tab, in the bottom right corner of the Uber app
  2. Click “Family” to enter the Family Profile home page
  3. Under Preferences on the Family screen select “Email receipts” and make the change

Delete Family profile

The Family profile owner can delete the profile. To do this:

  1. Select the Account tab, in the bottom right corner of the Uber app
  2. Click “Family” to enter family profile homepage
  3. Scroll to the bottom, tap “Delete profile,” and confirm.

Troubleshooting Family profile

If you are unable to add more members, one of the reasons is exceeding the number limit. A family profile is limited to 10 members, including the Organizer, and only the Organizer can send invitations to add new members. If the system pops up a “Limit is exceeded” notification when you send an invitation, it means that the group has exceeded the member limit.

Since only one user can be invited at a time, when you send a new invitation, if the previously sent invitation has not been accepted, the invitation will be cancelled. After the invited person accepts the invitation, you can continue inviting other members. You can also resend the invitation by clicking “Add Members”.

All invitees will need to have the Uber Eats app installed to receive in-app invitation notifications.

Family member not appearing

If your family members are not appearing on the account, resend their invites. If they didn’t have the Uber app when you sent the invite, you’ll need to resend the invite after they install the app.

Family profile features not working

If you or your family members notice that Family profile features are not working, you may need to:

Update both Uber and Uber Eats app to the latest version 1. Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play store. 2. Search for “Uber” 3. Tap “Update.” 4. Quit and restart the app
