Intercity trips

Intercity is an opportunity for drivers to earn more on long-distance trips between select cities, while also providing tourists, families, and business travelers with a more convenient and comfortable ride.

Intercity Trip Availability

To be considered an Intercity trip, the trip must be between two cities in eligible service areas. Currently, Intercity is available in specific service areas within the following cities:

  • Washington DC and Baltimore, Maryland
  • Orlando and Tampa Bay
  • Los Angeles and San Diego

How Intercity Works

Intercity is offered for both on-demand and Reserve trips. You’ll see the destination and earnings information upfront on the trip request card. It will also be noted as an Intercity trip (for example, UberX Intercity, Comfort Intercity).

Intercity trips are currently booked as one-way trips. However, once the first leg of an Intercity trip is completed, you’ll receive priority dispatching for a return trip back to your home city. You can also receive Intercity offers at airports in eligible cities.

Please note, riders can add stops during the trip or pick up passengers along the way. The app will be updated accordingly if that’s the case.

Intercity Trip Preferences

To receive Intercity trip requests as they become available, make sure you have INTERCITY selected in your Preferences Hub. Intercity trips are dependent on demand and may not be as frequent as other trip types at all times.

If you decide you no longer want to receive Intercity requests, you can opt out by deselecting INTERCITY in your Preferences Hub.
