What is an Event or Venue Surcharge?

To get the most accurate information for your region, select your city at the top right of the page.

Additional surcharges may apply to your trip in certain cities or certain parts of a city. Depending on the charge and location, these additional charges may be retained by Uber, retained by your driver, or paid by your driver to Uber or Uber-related entities.

An event surcharge, which may be labeled on your receipt as Uber Event Surcharge or Driver Event Surcharge, is a geography-based surcharge that may apply to trips to or from certain events, stadiums, or venues. These surcharges may be used for a variety of purposes, including offsetting costs that Uber incurs for ensuring that the Uber marketplace is available for riders and drivers at events or venues and/or may be paid, in whole or in part, directly to drivers.

When you request a trip the event surcharge(s) will be automatically included in the upfront price or estimated prices range you see before requesting. You can also view the amount of the surcharge(s) on the fare breakdown screen within the app.

To get to the fare breakdown:

  1. Tap the price displayed next to the vehicle option.
  2. Tap the information icon.

The surcharge(s) will either appear as part of the Tolls, Surcharges, and Fees item on your trip receipt or will be separately itemized.
