Correcting background check errors
If you find mistakes or incomplete details in your background check report, follow these steps to dispute the errors:
Checkr
- Contact Checkr by replying to the email or going to the Checkr portal (link provided in the email)
- To dispute an issue, visit the Checkr Error Reporting page
- If your report is over a year old, reach out to Checkr’s Support team
HireRight
- Understand the dispute process by exploring HireRight’s guidelines here
SambaSafety
- For inaccuracies in your SambaSafety report, review their instructions here.
- If your driver’s license or DMV record has changed (for example, you renewed your license, paid fees, were reinstated, or moved to a new state), you may need more than a dispute. In these cases:
- Open the Driver app.
- Log in to your account, go to the document upload section, and upload or re-upload your updated driver’s license.
- After your new license is approved, Uber will request a new Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from your state DMV.
- Allow 5 to 7 business days for completion.
- Important: Submit your updated license in the app to trigger a new MVR. SambaSafety cannot request new records through a dispute; only Uber can begin this process in the app.
- Uber makes decisions based on your most current report. Upload updated documents promptly if your license or driving record changes.
Please Note:
- Uber bases its partnership decisions on your background check’s findings
- The decision made by Uber, using the original or revised report, is final and cannot be challenged
- Your background check provider is the correct point of contact for disputes about the completeness of the report; they do not influence Uber’s decision
