Understanding Surge zones

When there are more riders requesting trips than available drivers, certain areas on your app map may appear colored:

• Yellow: Increased demand
• Orange: High demand
• Red: Very high demand

Note: Some cities may also show purple areas.

The color intensity indicates rider demand - the deeper the red, the higher the demand and the potential surge earnings.

How to earn with surge

• Drive towards demand: Head to areas shown in red to increase your chances of earning surge fares.
• Stay in the zone: If you’re already in a surge zone, or if the rider’s pickup location is in one, you’ll earn extra.
• Check your screen: The surge amount you can earn will appear at the bottom of your home screen.
• Don’t miss out: To keep the surge amount, do not:
  • Reject or cancel trips.
  • Pause requests or go offline.
  • Change trip preferences after entering a surge zone.

Tracking your surge earnings

To review surge earnings:

1. Tap the Earnings tab in your app.
2. Select Trips.
3. Choose the trip you’re inquiring about.
4. Tap Help if you think there’s an error with the fare.
