What is phishing?
Phishing is a trick someone may use to steal your personal information, such as your email, phone number, and password. It can lead to identity theft and financial loss.
How does phishing happen? - Phishing might come in the form of an unexpected call, text, or email. - The scammer might pretend to be from Uber and ask for your account details. - They may send messages with links or attachments that take you to fake websites designed to look like Uber’s login page.
Watch out for these warning signs: - Calls or texts pretending to be Uber Support asking for your account information. - Messages offering Uber credits in return for your personal details. - Unsolicited communications directing you to login pages that are not on the official “uber.com” site. - Promotions for discounted products that require your Uber login info. - Requests to add a gas gift card to your account allowing scammers to divert your earnings.
Don’t share personal information - Uber will never ask you for your password, verification codes, bank details, or credit/debit card info by phone or email.
Check the website URL - Always make sure the website’s URL is “https://uber.com” or a verified Uber address before entering your password.
