Commute Price Lock

Price Lock gives you the convenience of securing a consistent price for rides you take frequently, between the same pickup and dropoff locations, and during similar times of the day.

By subscribing for just $2.99, you can lock in a rate for your regular and Scheduled Rides during a selected time period for the next 30 days. You’ll always be charged the locked-in rate or less, as long as your pass is active. If the standard market rate happens to be lower when you request a ride, you’ll automatically pay the lower price instead.

Each Price Lock Pass allows for savings of up to $50 per month. After reaching this limit, any subsequent rides will be charged at the current market rate. Passes are not set to renew once they expire after 30 days. You can renew after 30 days or once you use up the entire $50 savings.

This service is currently available exclusively in a few Uber markets across the United States. We are excited to slowly roll it out to all Uber markets in the United States.

How to Enroll

Follow these steps to set up your Price Lock Pass using the app:

  1. Navigate to the Price Lock option in the side menu
  2. Enter and confirm your regular pickup and dropoff points
  3. Choose a one-hour daily window during that the Price Lock will apply to
  4. Complete your payment

Once the $2.99 subscription fee is processed, your locked-in price will be activated and applied to all eligible rides within your specified time window.

Note: The locked-in rate may not display until your selected time window is active.

How Price Lock Works

When you book a ride, the app will display the price that’s been locked in for your route. This rate is calculated based on the typical historical pricing for your trip.

The locked-in rate remains valid as long as your pass is active. You’ll continue to enjoy the discounted rate until you either reach the $50 savings cap for the month or the pass expires.

If you notice that you’re being charged more than the locked-in price, it may indicate that your pass has either expired or reached the savings limit for the month.

Should you reach the maximum $50 savings threshold, you have the option to renew your pass early. Upon renewal, your new 30-day period begins immediately and your locked-in rate may be adjusted.

You’re welcome to combine the Price Lock Pass with other Uber discounts and promotional offers. Additionally, you can manage up to 4 active passes at the same time.

Important Note: Price Lock Passes do not influence the time it takes to be assigned a ride.

Managing Your Passes

To oversee your current Price Lock Passes or to add new ones, simply navigate to the Price Lock section in the app menu. Here you can view details of existing passes, check their statuses, and manage auto-renewal preferences. To purchase an additional pass, select Add a Price Lock Pass and follow the steps to set it up.

Need to make adjustments?

Once a pass is purchased, it cannot be modified. If changes are required, you’ll need to cancel the pass and then purchase a new one with the updated details. To cancel, please reach out to our customer support chat and we will cancel your pass.

Note: Only unused passes are eligible for refunds.

Renewal

Price Lock Passes do not renew automatically. If your pass has expired or you’ve used up your $50 savings cap, you can purchase the pass again. The monthly subscription fee remains at $2.99 per pass, but the locked-in rates may change. For instance, in one month your rate might be $15.49, and in the next month it could be $16.49, along with the standard $2.99 fee.
