Your trip fare is either based on upfront pricing or the estimated and actual time and distance rates, depending on your city. Some factors that impact upfront pricing are:

• Expected trip duration
• Traffic patterns and distance
• Surge when demand is high

Fares may be adjusted automatically to reflect actual time and distance if:

• The pickup or dropoff location changes significantly
• There’s an unexpected detour that makes the trip longer and slower
• The trip takes significantly longer than expected
• The rider adds or removes a stop
