Upcoming updates to the Uber Eats agreements in Japan

From 1 December 2019, we will be localizing our Uber Eats business which will lead to update in your Uber Eats agreement. A local company, Uber Portier Japan, Inc., will provide the lead generation services which will connect you with restaurants and consumers. Uber Portier B.V. will continue to license you the Uber Eats applications. The services and the Uber Eats applications will continue to operate in the same way as before.

Will my earnings be affected?
The localization of our Uber Eats business does not impact any of the fees you charge to Restaurant Partners. Therefore, your earnings should not be affected by this change.

If I'm already a JCT taxpayer, can I claim back the JCT amount incurred on Uber service fee?
Yes, you may be able to claim the JCT as an input credit in your JCT return. For details, please consult with your local tax office.

How does this update relate to how I use the Uber Eats app?
This update will not affect the way that you use the Uber Eats app to deliver.

What if I don't agree to the terms of the revised Uber Eats agreement?
