Podatek od wspólnych przejazdów w Berkeley

Starting on January 1, 2021, the Berkeley Ridesharing Tax will be charged to riders on most rides originating in Berkeley, California.

About the tax

The Berkeley Ridesharing Tax was implemented in compliance with new regulations in the City of Berkeley. It was approved by the City of Berkeley, passed by voters with Measure GG on November 3, 2020, and is a pass-through tax to be paid in full to the City of Berkeley. It became effective on January 1, 2021.

Tax amount

The amount of the tax to be paid by riders will vary depending on the type of product they select. Shared rides (such as UberX Share) are taxed $0.25, and private rides (UberX, UberXL, Uber Select, Uber Comfort, and Uber Green) are taxed $0.50. The City of Berkeley may choose to increase these tax amounts in the future.

Viewing the tax on your trips

The Berkeley Ridesharing Tax applies only to pickups in Berkeley. Trips involving the Uber WAV and Uber Black products, as well as any trips ending outside of California, will not be taxed. You can see if the tax was applied to your trips by checking your trip breakdown or your weekly earnings statement for the “Berkeley Ridesharing Tax” line item.
