Uber enables users to pay for their trips in cash.
If you receive less cash than the total fare at the end of a trip, you can request an adjustment directly in the app using the underpayment tool.
HOW TO REPORT AN UNDERPAYMENT IN THE APP:
- At the end of the trip, a confirmation screen will show the total fare.
- If the rider pays a different amount, select “Other amount” and enter the amount you actually received (including zero, if needed).
- The rider will get a message in their Uber app to confirm the amount entered.
- After the rider confirms, you can end the trip.
- If the rider cannot confirm (for example, their mobile battery is dead), choose “The rider cannot respond” and select the appropriate reason.
What happens after reporting
- The app will create a pending charge in the rider’s account for the underpaid amount.
- You will get the correct fare once the rider confirms or the issue is processed.
- Check your trip receipt for the adjustment if you have already reported the issue.
Important reminders
- Only report the exact amount you received to avoid issues with tool access.
- Incorrect reports may affect your ability to use the underpayment tool in the future.
Feature availability
- Cash Payment Confirmation is currently being tested and may not be available to all driver partners or on all trips.
- The feature may not be available on trips between 10pm and 6am.
