New York State Driver Benefits - Overview and FAQ

For all rides trips in New York State (outside of New York City), you are entitled to a minimum payment for your time on a trip.

Minimum Earnings Guarantee Rate

The guaranteed minimum earnings rate is $28.41 per hour of active time.

What is “Active Time”?

Active time is the total time you spend on a trip, which includes:

• Time spent driving to a rider’s pickup location.
• Time spent with the rider in the vehicle.
• Time spent online waiting for a trip request is not considered active time.

How Minimum Earnings Guarantees Are Calculated

Your earnings are reviewed over a 14-day (bi-weekly) period that starts on Mondays at 4 AM.

1. We calculate your total active time for all eligible trips within the 14-day period.
2. We determine your minimum guaranteed earnings by multiplying your total active time by the hour rate.
3. We compare this guaranteed amount to your actual net earnings for the same period.

If your actual earnings are less than the minimum guaranteed amount, you’ll receive a “top-up” payment for the difference. This payment will appear on your earnings statement on the Monday following the end of the 2-week period.

What Counts Towards Your Minimum Earnings Guarantee?

When calculating if you have met the Minimum Earnings Guarantee, the following are included:

• Your standard trip fares.
• On-trip incentives and promotions.

The following are NOT included in the calculation for

• Minimum Earnings Guarantees:
• Tips and gratuities.
• Tolls and other surcharges.
• Cleaning fees.
• Referral bonuses.

Mileage is not a direct factor in the New York State Minimum Earnings Guarantee calculation. It is based on active time.
