For safety reasons, riders must be at least 18 years old to create their own Uber account.
A program available in select cities allows teens aged 13–17 to ride unaccompanied with a parent or guardian’s permission.
Through Uber for Teens, minors can request rides using a teen account linked to a family profile.
For details on how to identify an Uber for Teens trip, visit Uber for Teens FAQ.
Unless the offer card indicates an Uber for Teens trip, anyone under 18 must ride with an adult at all times.
If you suspect a rider is underage:
Politely ask them to show a driver’s license or ID card to confirm their age.
You have the option to cancel the trip if you believe the rider is underage (Select unaccompanied minor as the cancellation reason and potentially receive a cancellation fee).
