Your ride price is calculated based on the rates in your city. Price components are a base amount, a per minute amount, a per mile amount and where applicable, an adjustment to minimum price.
In cases of high demand and at peak times, your minimum fare may increase in two ways:
Trip surge: Surge pricing automatically goes into effect when there are more riders in a given area than available drivers. This encourages more drivers to serve the busy area over time and shifts rider demand, to maintain reliability and restore balance.
Trip premium: Varies between $1 and $10 per applicable trip depending on location and time. This fee will be applied to certain routes and times where finding a ride may have been harder in the past.
These dynamic pricing components give riders the best chance of finding a ride, even during peak demand hours.
Fees outside of these core components are indicated on the receipt individually, and you will always get a price estimate before requesting a ride.
Time and distance pricing does not apply to Uber Reserve, which is paid as an upfront fare.
