Managing Uber Family Profiles

Set up a Family profile

  1. Choose the “Account” tab in the bottom corner of the app.
  2. Scroll down and tap “Family.”

Only one Family profile can be created at a time. Family members can’t be restricted to certain vehicle types or spending limits.

In order to create a family profile you must agree to the Terms of Service by checking the box at the bottom of your screen.

Invite a member

Once you have an active Family Profile, you can invite members to join. To do this:

  1. Access the Family menu under the Account tab in the app.
  2. From here, choose Invite Family.
  3. Below the Members section, tap “Add new member” and select people from your contact list to send them an invite to join your profile.

Once sent, you can see if an invite is still pending and you have the option to resend an invitation if needed.

Uber Family follows Uber’s Terms and Conditions so users still need to be at least 18 years of age to sign up for rides or place orders with Uber.

Remove a member

The organizer can choose to remove a member from a Family Profile at any time. To do this:

  1. Go to “Account”
  2. Scroll down and tap “Family profile.”
  3. Select the name of the family member you want to remove.
  4. Tap “Remove member” and confirm your choice.

If you have questions about verifying that a member was removed, please make sure: * You have updated to the latest version of the app. * Quit the app and then reopen to see if the member has been removed.

Change payment method

A single payment method is needed to use a Family Profile. Keep in mind that everyone in the Family Profile will share this payment method and have access to use it when requesting from the Family Profile. To manage or change payment methods:

  1. Go to “Account”.
  2. Scroll down and tap “Family profile”
  3. Under “Preferences,” select “Default payment.”

Depending on your location, there may be some limitations on which payment method you can use on your Family Profile. Only credit or debit cards can be used as a payment preference for your Family profile.

Change email for trip receipts

To change the email address where receipts are sent for your Family Profile:

  1. Go to “Account”
  2. Scroll down and tap “Family profile”
  3. Under “Preferences” select “Email receipts” and make the change.

Delete Family profile

The Family profile owner can delete the profile. To do this:

  1. Go to “Account”
  2. Select “Family profile”
  3. Scroll to the bottom, tap “Delete Family profile,” and confirm.

Troubleshooting Family profile

Family member not appearing

If your family members are not appearing on the account, we recommend attempting to resend their invitations after verifying their contact information is correct. If they didn’t have the Uber app when you sent the invite, you’ll need to resend the invite after they install the app.

Family profile features not working

If you or your family members notice that Family profile features are not working, you may need to:

  • Update the app to the latest version of the app in your device’s App Store.
  • Fully exit and restart the app
