To drive passengers with Uber, your vehicle must meet these minimum requirements:
- 4 doors and seat at least 4 riders
- Meet the vehicle age requirements for your city. Check our Vehicle Requirements page to see local model year cutoffs, as well as inspection forms and required documents
- Make sure the page is showing information for your city by checking your location in the lower right corner of the screen
- Title must not be salvaged, reconstructed, or rebuilt
- Rental vehicles are only allowed in certain markets, and only if sourced from an authorized Uber rental partner. More information on rentals can be found here.
- No cosmetic damage, missing pieces, or commercial branding
- Heating and air conditioning must be in good working order
If you’re driving a vehicle you don’t own
You can drive a vehicle you do not personally own, but you must follow these steps:
- You must have permission from the owner.
- You must be listed as an insured driver on the vehicle’s insurance policy. Otherwise, your vehicle will not be approved on the Uber platform.
