Uber Copter F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is eligible for Uber Copter?

Uber Copter is currently available to Platinum and Diamond Uber Rewards members by invitation only. We are excited to expand Uber Copter to more riders in the near future. If you're eligible and your pick-up or drop-off location is located south of Houston St going to or from JFK, Uber Copter will appear as an option in your Uber app. You might need to scroll down to see it.

2. How does Uber Copter work?

Flights are operated by our direct air carrier partner, HeliFlite. Uber is not an air carrier and does not operate flights. You can find more about HeliFlite at www.heliflite.com.

Uber Copter is a multi-modal travel experience. When you book through the app, your trips to and from the heliport are included. Those trips are arranged via the Uber app and operated by Uber driver-partners.

Uber Copter is currently available Monday - Friday, 2-5pm EST and you can book up to five days in advance.

3. What identification do I need to bring?

Each passenger must present valid identification at the heliport. Failure to do so will result in the inability to fly.

4. Can I book Uber Copter for a guest?

The trip must be booked by the eligible account owner. If an eligible rider books a seat for a guest, guest riders must be accompanied by and on the same flight as the eligible rider that booked.

5. How much does Uber Copter cost?

The price of an Uber Copter trip can vary depending on demand for the service. Refer to your app for the most up-to-date prices.

Prices are indicated per person and agreed to up front.

When arranging a trip with Uber Copter, we will facilitate a ride from your point of origin to the heliport, in addition to a ride to your terminal after the Copter arrives at the heliport.

6. How much luggage is allowed on the aircraft?

You are permitted to bring one carry-on and one personal item aboard Uber Copter

Approved personal Items include a purse, briefcase, laptop bag or similarly sized item that cannot weigh more than 20 pounds. The personal item must fit in your lap or by your feet without obstructing any other passenger or your ability to fasten your safety belt.

Carry-on baggage must meet carry-on size limits (approximately 22" x 14" x 9") and be 50 pounds maximum. Oversized carry-on baggage will be assessed a $50 fee.

Any additional luggage or luggage that does not meet these requirements may not be allowed onboard the helicopter.

Please note that the following items may not be carried onboard the aircraft: Firearms, weapons, lithium batteries (including "smart bags" with non-removable lithium batteries), explosives, aerosol cans, flammables, oxidizers, toxins, radioactive materials, corrosives, e-cigarettes, hazardous materials, and any item included on the Federal TSA Prohibited Item List. Smoking is prohibited in any form while onboard the aircraft.

7. Can I bring my pet?

Dogs and cats under 20 lbs and placed in a carrier are permitted on flights.

Please notify HeliFlite in advance of your trip if you will be bringing a pet or service animal onboard by calling at 1-877-FLY-HELI or (973) 273-7562.

Service animals are permitted on the helicopter regardless of weight. Please note that Uber's policies on pets apply for the Uber ride portion of your trip. You can find more information here.

8. Why is weight and balance so important?

Safety is one of our top priorities. As such, it is necessary to assess passenger and luggage weight to determine an ideal balance on the aircraft. Passenger and luggage weight will be measured at check-in.

In rare instances, you may be bumped to another flight in order to balance the weight distribution of the helicopter. Our teams will assist you in these cases with additional information.

9. How will seat be assigned?

Please keep in mind that seats are assigned based on weight balance by our partner to help ensure proper balance of the helicopter. This is a necessary safety measure, and we ask that you stay in your assigned seat.

10. My flight was cancelled.

In case of a flight cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, we will issue a full refund.

11. I need to cancel my flight.

You may cancel a flight reservation by providing notice to Uber more than 2 hours prior to the departure time of the flight. Cancelling more than 2 hours prior to departure will not result in a charge.

Cancellation is through the Uber app. You can review the Uber Copter cancellation policy in the T&Cs.

Cancelling between the start of your first mile trip and the start of your flight will result in a cancellation charge of 66% of your upfront price for Uber Copter, plus applicable taxes, fees or surcharge.

Cancelling between the start of your Flight and the start of your last mile trip results in a cancellation charge of 90% of your upfront price for Uber Copter plus applicable taxes, fees or surcharges.

12. I need more information on Service Security.

By participating in the Uber Copter Service, you agree to follow all safety instructions provided by Uber, our direct air carrier partners, and third party security contractors at all times, including in the event of an emergency or an evacuation.

You will be shown a safety video and/or receive safety instructions prior to boarding.
