Using Family Profiles

Create a Family Profile to be an account organizer for your family’s accounts. You can invite relatives to join and manage each person’s default payment method.

Each rider added to your Family Profile must meet our Terms of Service. To obtain an account, riders must be at least 18 years of age or the age of legal majority in their local jurisdiction.

Invite family members to your existing profile

  1. Select “Settings” from your app menu
  2. Scroll down to “Family” and tap the “Set up your family” bar.
  3. Follow the steps to select and invite family members from your contact list

Currently, only one family member can be invited at a time. Once that family member accepts your invitation, you’ll be able to invite additional family members. Your Family Profile can have up to 4 members, including yourself.

Invited family members receive an email and push notification or SMS text message. They’ll appear in your Family Profile as “pending” until they accept your invite. If you want to invite family members who don’t have an account, they’ll first need to download the app. After they download the app, resend the invitation.

When family members accept your invitation, their app displays the Family Profile option as a payment method.

Family profile payment

In order to verify your Family Profile payment method, a pre-authorization is used to validate your card. This pre-authorization is voided immediately so the charge is never completed.

You can also update your Family Profile payment method. Here’s how:

  1. Tap your photo at the top of the app menu
  2. Select your Family Profile
  3. Select “Payment” from the menu
  4. Select your preferred payment method or add a new one

Keeping track of family profile trips

Family Profile account holders cannot currently see a full history of a family member’s trips online or in the app and should use receipts to track trips. All receipts for trips and charges paid for by your Family Profile’s payment method are automatically sent to the profile admin’s email address.

To update this email address:

  1. Select “Settings” from your app menu.
  2. Scroll down to “Family” and tap the “Family Profile” bar.
  3. Scroll down to “Preferences” and select “Email Receipts.”
  4. Update your email address and tap the confirm button.

How to delete a family profile

  1. Select “Settings” from your app menu.
  2. Scroll down to “Family” and tap the “Family Profile” bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap “Delete Family Profile” and confirm.

How to remove a family member

  1. Select “Settings” from your app menu.
  2. Scroll down to “Family” and tap the “Family Profile” bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap the family member you want to remove.
  4. Select “remove member” and confirm.

How to leave a family profile

  1. Select “Settings” from your app menu.
  2. Scroll down to “Family” and tap the “Family Profile” bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap “Leave profile” button.
