New York City (NYC) Driver and Courier Benefits - Overview and FAQ

All rideshare drivers in New York City (NYC) can earn and use paid sick leave.

Accrual Rate

You earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours of active time. Active time is the time you spend en route to a pickup or with a rider.

Annual Cap & Carryover

• You can accrue and use up to 56 hours of paid sick leave per calendar year.
• You can carry over up to 56 hours of unused sick leave to the next calendar year.

Paid Sick Leave Payment Rate

For New York City (NYC) drivers, claimed sick time used is paid at a rate of $18.58 per hour for earners that take rides trips. This is provided in addition to paid time off that you may already receive under existing New York City (NYC) laws.

How to Claim Sick Time

You can view your sick time balance and submit a claim through the Driver Benefits Hub in the app. 1. Visit the Driver Benefits Hub. 2. Select the Paid Sick & Safe Leave program. 3. You can claim sick time in 4-hour blocks, up to 8 hours in a single calendar day.

Once a sick time claim is submitted, you can expect payment for you claimed sick time within 14 days. If you request multiple days, you will be paid out once per day until the claimed days are paid. You are able to work on a day for which you have claimed sick time.
