UberX Share offers a cost-effective way for riders to share their journey with others heading in the same direction. Here’s what you need to know:

Trip matching and route optimization

• As drivers, you’ll receive real-time route updates to efficiently pick up co-riders.
• The Uber app ensures you follow the best route for all passenger pickups.

Earnings and surge pricing

• You’re paid UberX rates for time and distance, from the first pickup to the last dropoff.
• Surge pricing applies to UberX Share trips, boosting your earnings.

Trip requests and passenger limits

• Riders cannot change their pickup location or destination after booking an UberX Share.
• Only one person per UberX Share request is allowed.
• The app won’t match you with additional riders if two passengers are already onboard.

Cancellation policy and wait times

• Riders have a 2-minute grace period to cancel without a fee after you’ve accepted the trip.
• After 2 minutes, if the rider cancels, you get a cancellation fee.
• You’re informed when riders are notified of your arrival.
• There’s a minimum wait time of 2 minutes at the pickup location.
• If the rider doesn’t show within this time, you can cancel and receive a cancellation fee.
• To collect the fee, you must wait at least 2 minutes before canceling.

If you are signed up to receive UberX trips you’ll automatically receive Share requests. You can choose to accept Share trip requests, but you will no longer be able to opt out of Share in your Preferences section of the Driver app.
