The “pending” charge in your account is an authorization hold.
At the beginning of an Uber trip, a temporary authorization hold of the upfront fare or the maximum estimated fare would be placed on your payment method. This is to ensure that there are sufficient funds available to cover your Uber trip.
When the trip completes, the authorization hold will be converted to a charge according to the final trip fare.
If you cancel your trip, the authorization hold placed on your payment method for the ride will also be cancelled.
However, depending on the timing of your cancellation, you may still be charged a cancellation fee directly from your payment method under the cancellation policy.

If the final trip fare is different from the upfront fare, you may receive multiple transaction messages or records from your payment institute regarding additional authorization amounts being held to cover the actual cost of the trip.
You will only pay the actual fare of the trip. Any initial authorization placed on your payment method will be voided.
Authorization holds typically take 7-10 business days to clear. It may take longer depending on the policy and processing time of the bank or payment institute.
If you would like to confirm a specific item on your statement, or an authorization hold has not been cleared from your account after a period of time, please contact your payment institute directly.
