How does Uber Courier work?

Uber Courier works in pretty much the same way as requesting an UberX ride. But instead of requesting a ride to transport a person, you will be sending an item.

Depending on the version of your app, the steps to request a delivery may vary. These are the general instructions for sending and receiving an Uber Courier delivery:

To request it, follow these steps:

If you want to send/receive an item:

  1. Open the Uber app and go to the “Send” section at the top of the screen.

  2. Enter the point of pick up and delivery of the item you want to send/receive.

  3. Add the information of the person sending/receiving the item (Name and phone number). Remember to always fill in this information, so that you can activate the use of the delivery PIN.

  4. Select the Uber Courier / Courier Moto option and confirm the delivery. Remember to check the payment method you have selected. For now, the delivery PIN will be only available with digital payment methods.

  5. When the Driver / Delivery Partner arrives, you must hand off the item. If the payment method you have selected is cash, the delivery must be paid by whoever requests the service through the application. Remember that the rate of your delivery is calculated based on its time and distance, so additional charges may be generated (for time, traffic, etc.). In these cases, if your payment does not cover the total of the final price, it could generate a pending amount that you will have to pay on your next trip.

  6. Remember that you are responsible for your item, so make sure the sender / receiver is ready to send / pick it up and share the PIN with the partner (if it is enabled). You both can track it on the app.

You have the option to choose between meeting the Driver at the curb or at the door if you request Courier from the “Send” section within your Uber application.

Do not forget to select the option when requesting the trip and indicate in the notes the necessary information so that the Driver can follow the instruction.

The Driver will do his best to follow your directions. If the Driver does not find a place to park or has some other inconvenience, he can contact you through the app, so it is important that you be attentive.

Also, remember that if the delivery PIN is enabled, it will be visible in your app and will also be shared with the person who receives the item, who must share it with the partner to ensure that the package is delivered to the correct person.

ARE UBER COURIER DELIVERIES INSURED?

Uber Courier deliveries have the same insurance as UberX trips. However, the packages sent are not insured.

We reinforce that Courier Drivers are experienced partners and they went through safety filters and validations to ensure that your items will arrive to the recipient.

In case of not receiving an article, we will consider contacting the Driver to obtain more information and know if there is any complication during the delivery process. We inform you that in case of loss, we will not be able to cover the cost of the item sent, as this service is provided by the partner, and not by Uber.

Remember that both Uber Courier and Uber Courier Moto should only be used to send packages and not to transport people. If you want to request a ride to transport people, make sure to select the UberX option.
