Uber verifies your payment method by issuing a temporary authorization hold when you add a payment method to your Uber account or do not use your payment method for several days.
Authorization holds are placed for the amount specified at the indicated location to initiate the lease but are never actually charged to your account, it is only a verification of funds. However, you may see one of these amounts registered on your account as pending.
At the beginning of a lease, Uber may issue a temporary authorization hold for the suggested lease price on your payment method. This appears as a "Pending" charge on your account payment method so do not worry if your bank sends you an SMS with a charge authorization. When the lease is completed, the authorization hold is converted to a charge for the final lease price.
If the lease was canceled or the total price is not the same as the initial price on your Uber App, the authorization hold will be canceled in your payment method in a few business days depending on your bank regulations.
If you want to confirm a specific item on your statement, contact your bank directly.
