Set up a Family profile
- Go to “Account” and select “Settings” in the app.
- Scroll down and tap “Family.”
Only one Family profile can be created at a time. Family members can’t be restricted to certain vehicle types or spending limits.
Invite a member
- Go to “Account” and select “Settings” in the app.
- Scroll down and tap “Family”.
- Tap “Add member” and select people from your contact list to send them an invite to join your profile.
Uber Family follows Uber’s Terms and Conditions so users still need to be 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in their location) to sign up and ride with Uber.
Remove a member
- Go to “Account” and Select “Settings” in the app.
- Scroll down and tap “Family.”
- Select the name of the family member you want to remove.
- Tap “Remove family member.”
Before verifying a member was removed from the Family profile, make sure:
- You have updated to the latest version of the app.
- Quit the app and then reopen to see if the member has been removed.
Change payment method
- Go to “Account” and select “Settings” in the app.
- Scroll down and tap “Family.”
- Under “Preferences,” select “Default payment.”
Only credit or debit cards can be used as a payment preference for your Family profile.
Setting spending limits
- Select the profile icon in the bottom right of the app.
- Go to “Family”
- Select the name of the family member for whom you want to set the limit.
Checking member’s balance
- Select the profile icon in the bottom right of the app.
- Go to “Family”
- Select the member you want to check
- Displayed the balance for each ride/order
Note:
- If no limit is set, the default setting is unlimited.
- Limits are reset on the first of each month and unused amounts are not carried over.
- Once the limit is exceeded, the ride/order cannot be taken unless the limit is changed by the organizer.
- If you receive a refund, the refund amount will be returned to your spending limit.
- If a promo is applied to your account, the amount deducted from your spending limit will be the amount of the promo applied.
- If you are unable to use your account due to “insufficient balance,” you may have exceeded your spending limit. Please ask the organizer to change the limit.
Change email for trip receipts
To change the email address where receipts are sent for your Family Profile:
- Go to “Account” and select “Settings” in the app.
- Scroll down and tap “Family”
- Under “Preferences” select “Email receipts” and make the change.
Delete Family profile
The Family profile owner can delete the profile. To do this:
- Go to “Account” and select “Settings” in the app.
- Select “Family.”
- Scroll to the bottom, tap “Delete profile,” and confirm.
